Manual: Smart plant sensor

Product description

Greensens smart plant sensor system can help you care for your plant and flowers with ease. The sensor system draws from a data bank that includes over 5,500 plants with unique habits. The smart plant sensor system can detect light, temperature and moisture in real time, and show the data through connecting to greensens app with an internet connection. The system includes a smart plant sensor, usb gateway and free greensens Android/iOS app.

For data transfers, plant sensors use the gateway, which has WiFi connection and can transfer data to the cloud. Gateway can manage data from up to 10 sensors. To configure the system and register sensors, you need to download the app. Greensens provides apps for two main smartphone systems: Android and iOS.

Main features:

Pre-Install app:

Below you can scan QR-code for your smartphone to download the app you need to start the system configuration.

  1. Each sensor is powered with a solar cell. Therefore, it is very important to make sure that a sensor has enough light. Please avoid shading sensors with leaves or any other obstacles. Like in the above picture, you can tilt your sensor back to better light capture. Tilting the sensor about 10-15 degrees will be enough.
  1. On the front side of the sensor, you find a line, which shows you where the top of your plant’s soil should reach. If the sensor is not installed not deep enough, this may lead to improper soil moisture readings.

Notes and warnings:

  1. Please make sure the sensor’s solar cell is clean and has no damage.
  2. Keep the surface of the sensor clean before installing it.
  3. Stick the sensor probe at least 7cm deep into the soil.
  4. The sensor has basic water protection, but nevertheless, do NOT pour water over the sensor.
  5. The sensor is designed for indoor use. In the case of outdoor use, the warranty does not apply.
  6. Depending on light conditions, the sensor transfers data up to 24 times a day.
  7. Please make sure your sensor has at least 500 lux light. Otherwise, it won’t be able to send data. This is also a minimum light condition for many plants to survive.
  8. If you use Android 10, Gateway registration might be refused, at first, due to some Google restrictions. Just repeat the registration steps if that happens.
  9. If you see an accuracy problem with temperature values, please do a calibration. This calibration will be saved until you delete the sensor from the gateway. If you just change the plant, the temperature calibration remains.
  10. If you don’t see data from your sensor in the app:
    1. a. Check if your sensor has a proper position to the light.
    2. If the distance does not feather then 10m (line of sight).
    3. Check in the app, dot in front of your gateway name: green = online, red = offline.
    4. If your gateway is offline, check your WiFi internet connection and make sure it is stable.
